Bees, we may take them and other pollinatorssuch as butterflies, birds and bats for granted, but they're to stable and healthgy food supplies and key to the varied, colourful and nutritious diets we need (and have becomne accustomed to in their endless availability).

Did you know? A honeybee only produces a twelfth of a teaspoon of honey in their lifetime. So it would take approximately 1202 bees to make 500g of honey.

All around the world, people are realising the importance of the role bees play in the food chain, in producing the food we enjoy all year round. The access to this knowledge has heightened our fascination with bees within the community and has vastly increased the popularity of becoming a beekeeper.

Local beekeeping associations are a great source of hands-on advice and support. The Gold Coast Amateur Beekeeper's Society Inc. provides practical training and education to aspiring beekeepers.
